To me, being a mortgage loan originator is not simply obtaining funding for people to buy or refinance a home. Yes, that is the general description of the job, but, to me, it’s more about getting to know that person, their lifestyle, their needs and then working to find the right loan product that will most benefit them, and working in tandem with them all along the way to facilitate a smooth closing. When someone comes to me for help, I walk them through the whole process and make sure they never feel like they’re going it alone or are confused about what’s happening at any stage along the way.
I find a particular enjoyment in talking with people about their homes because I spent a few years working in home construction/remodeling before entering the mortgage industry. I feel a special kinship for people that are looking to buy a “fixer-upper” or are looking to refinance to update their current homes. I know the excitement and array of complications (often unforeseen) that can come along with doing those types of projects and I do everything I can to make sure any stress from the project isn’t coming from the mortgage-lending side of it.
Originally from Murfreesboro, TN, I moved to the White House area, just north of Nashville, 16 years ago. There are so many things I like about Nashville and the surrounding areas. The music and downtown nightlife is great, but I love that we’re a day’s trip from the Great Smoky Mountains, that we have all sorts of professional sports teams in town (my favorite would have to be the Nashville Sounds), and that there are so many delicious restaurants to try. I have yet to find somewhere in Nashville that I did not like to eat, especially off of West End Avenue.
When I have free time, I alternate among going kayaking, cycling, hiking, backpacking, paddle boarding, climbing, the occasional video game, sport shooting, longboarding, skateboarding and bowling. I’m also an open-water certified scuba diver, so I love it when I get the chance the get under the water. I’m a big LSU fan, and I love to travel. In fact, one of my current, personal goals is to participate in more mission trips. Being able to help people while I travel? It doesn’t get much better than that.
