I have been helping people navigate their way through the financial world in one way or another for more than 30 years. I was in banking for the first 20 years of my career before entering the mortgage industry in 2003. After becoming a loan originator, I found that helping people obtain home financing was what truly excited me.
There are few things more satisfying than helping someone achieve their goal of owning their own home. A very close second to that is seeing the relief on the face of a client whom I’ve just helped with a refinance. Whether it’s simply getting my client on better financial footing with a more manageable mortgage payment, freeing up some cash for them to pay off higher-interest debt, or freeing up that cash for a home remodeling project, knowing that I’m able to make a difference in someone’s life is the reward that keeps on giving.
The best perk of being in the mortgage business is the fact that I get to build long-term relationships with my clients. Due to the nature of the mortgage process, my clients and I get to know each other rather quickly and fairly well. I’m available to answer their questions anytime – day or night.
After being in the business for so long, there’s rarely a circumstance that arises that I haven’t already encountered, and that goes a long way to help my clients feel at ease when seeking my expertise, no matter what their situation might be. Furthermore, when we part at the closing table, I know it won’t be the last time we’ll see each other because my dedication to my clients doesn’t end after that first transaction.
I am originally from Lexington, KY, but it was a job transfer that brought my family to Nashville three decades ago and I’ve never regretted that. I am married, have two adult children and three grandchildren. Raising a family in the Nashville area has been wonderful. The fact that I may have some small part in helping others do the same is what keeps me waking up excited to take on a new day every morning. That said, when it’s time to take a break, you’ll most likely find me walking a beach somewhere (and still taking my clients’ phone calls wherever I am).
