Good communication is very important in the mortgage industry and I feel lucky that this skill is right in my wheelhouse. I’ve always been a “people person,” and that characteristic has served me well in this business over the years. Being a good communicator not only allows me to get to know my clients so I can understand their needs and goals, but it’s also imperative in helping my clients get through the loan process as quickly as possible.
Growing up in Columbia, TN – a town to the south of Nashville mostly known for Mule Day and being one of the favorite small towns of Mike Wolfe of “American Pickers” TV show, I learned the importance of setting expectations up front and accompanying that with a positive attitude and a smile. This makes a huge difference, especially when helping people through what will probably be one of the largest purchases they make in their life if they’re buying a home.
With so many moving parts, the mortgage process can put people on edge at times, but this is where constant communication between all parties plays a big role in a successful close. After determining the best loan program for a client’s needs, I walk them through the process from beginning to end, heading off issues before they happen or quickly dealing with any surprises.
Whether the goal for a client is lowering a monthly payment, taking cash out to put in a swimming pool or getting into a first home, I love being able to help others achieve their goals. I love it so much, in fact, I make myself available to my clients even in the evenings and on the weekends.
That said, I do appreciate my down time and, when I get it, I can usually be found hiking, working out, traveling or doing any combination of these things with my son. We enjoy a good day or weekend-long trip so, if you have any good suggestions, please let me know!
